Custom Electrical & Embedded Systems Design
I’m Ryan Mueller, and I help companies solve electrical and software challenges they can’t tackle in-house. Whether you need a custom control system for industrial equipment, embedded firmware for a new product, or automation tools to speed up your production line, I bring 6+ years of engineering, team leadership, and hands-on development experience to get your project done right.
What I Do
Custom Circuit Design & PCB Layout
From power supplies to complex control boards, I design circuits that work reliably in the real world. I’ve delivered over 100 custom hardware products across industrial lighting and off-highway machinery, and I know how to navigate regulatory requirements like FCC, UL, and NEC when your product needs certification.
Embedded Systems & Machine Controls
Need firmware for your ECU or microcontroller? I develop embedded software in C/C++ for industrial automation and hydraulic machinery. I’ve built complete control systems that handle everything from basic I/O to complex network communication and real-time operations.
Production Automation & Tooling
Manufacturing bottlenecks eating into your margins? I create custom automation scripts, ECU flashing tools, and production software that eliminate repetitive tasks. These projects are usually straightforward and can dramatically improve your throughput.
Full Product Development
Got an idea but not sure how to make it real? I can take a concept from initial design through to production-ready hardware and software. This includes schematic design, PCB layout, firmware development, and working with manufacturers to get your product built.
How We Work Together
I maintain a full-time design role, so I take on consulting projects that fit alongside that schedule. This works well for small to medium projects—the kind where you need expert help but don’t need someone full-time. I work remotely for most projects, but I can be on-site when hardware commissioning or troubleshooting requires it.
My favorite projects involve interesting circuit design challenges, automation scripts, and system-level projects. If you’re doing something technically ambitious and need someone who enjoys diving into the details, we’ll probably work well together.
Typical clients: Small to medium companies (5-500 employees) who need specialized expertise for a specific project or problem.
Project scope: Focused projects that can move efficiently—custom control systems, production automation tools, desktop software, circuit designs for new products, or embedded firmware development.
